Welcome to Development Services.
The City's Development Services office is responsible for regulating construction and land use, and enforcing environmental health and safety codes throughout the city limits.

Building regulation protects the public in the built environment while zoning promotes the highest and best use of land in the city. Health and safety codes prevent and abate environmental nuisances on private property.

The City of Sherman also regulates unoccupied sub-standard structures under the 1985 Standard Unsafe Building Code.

This office is the initial point of contact for all building projects in the City of Sherman. City inspectors are certified and licensed by the State of Texas and the Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI) in building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
